How to bond with your daughter after a divorce

Just because you go through the divorce process does not mean you want to end the relationship with your child or children as well.

Some fathers find it difficult to bond with their children after a divorce, especially if the other parent is making it a challenge to do so.

Fortunately, there are some basic steps you can take to make this easier:

-- Find out what she likes. Simply put, you should take an interest in the things that your daughter likes to do. From music to arts to sports, don't waste any time learning more about her likes (and dislikes).

-- Do things together. It's one thing to talk to your daughter about the things she likes. It's another thing entirely to actually take action, such as by accompanying her to an important event.

-- Plan a trip. Are you looking to spend some more quality time with your daughter? If you're able to make it work with both of your schedules, plan a trip. This can be something as simple as a weekend at the beach.

As you can see, there are many ways to bond with your daughter after a divorce. This may not be easy to do, but once you make a few changes to your approach everything will begin to fall into place.

Since it's so important that you have the opportunity to help raise your daughter, you'll want to learn more about child custody as your divorce moves forward. With the right arrangement in place, you'll feel comfortable being a big part of your daughter's life for many years to come.
